Every year, the Afterschool Alliance hosts the Annual Lights On Afterschool event. Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families and communities
The Afterschool Alliance is a national organization that works to ensure that all youth have access to affordable, quality afterschool programs by engaging public will to increase public and private investment in afterschool program initiatives at the national, state, and local levels.
In October 2021, SHINE participated in the event virtually, to ensure the health and safety of our students, teachers and families.
Each center was tasked with brainstorming a presentation that would showcase the different lessons and activities the students work on during SHINE. The presentations were then videotaped and edited together in a short film.
The film, We SHINE Together, was premiered via ZOOM for SHINE families, friends and local dignitaries.
The SHINE staff is incredibly proud of everyone involved and is looking forward to Lights On Afterschool 2022!
